Special Task Force (STF) of India’s West Bengal Police has arrested Faisal Karim Masud and Md Alamgir Sheikh, the prime suspects in the killing of Inqilab Mancha Spokesperson Sharif Osman Hadi, ANI reported on Sunday, citing an STF statement shared on X.

The two suspects were apprehended near the Bongaon border area for illegally entering and residing in India.

On 12 December 2025, Hadi was attacked by assailants riding a motorcycle. The gunmen opened fire, critically injuring him with bullets to the head and just below the right ear. Hadi was immediately rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, then transferred to Evercare Hospital, Dhaka for further treatment.

As his condition deteriorated, Hadi was flown to Singapore via air ambulance on 15 December for advanced medical care. Despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries on 18 December, a week after the attack.

Initially, a case was filed with the Paltan Police Station in Dhaka on 14 December charging the attempted murder. Following Hadi’s death, the case was upgraded to a murder investigation.

The STF confirmed that the arrest of Faisal and Alamgir is part of ongoing cross-border efforts to apprehend suspects involved in serious crimes targeting Bangladeshi nationals.
