Prime Minister Tarique Rahman held a meeting with lawmakers from the ruling Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) on Wednesday at the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat in Dhaka as the government seeks to strengthen coordination within parliament ahead of upcoming legislative discussions.

The meeting took place at around 11:00 am at the West Block of the Parliament Secretariat, according to officials familiar with the gathering. Members of parliament from the ruling party attended the session, which was organised as part of ongoing consultations between the prime minister and BNP lawmakers.

Sources at the Prime Minister’s Office said the meeting provided an opportunity for the government leadership to engage directly with ruling party representatives on parliamentary matters and policy priorities. Such meetings are often held to ensure coordination between the executive branch and lawmakers responsible for supporting government initiatives in the national legislature.

The session comes at a time when parliament is expected to discuss a range of policy and governance issues, including economic management, development programmes and institutional reforms. Government officials say internal consultations with ruling party MPs are intended to help maintain alignment on legislative strategy and administrative priorities.

Political analysts note that meetings between the prime minister and members of the ruling party in parliament can play an important role in shaping parliamentary agendas and maintaining party discipline within the legislature.

The gathering at the parliament complex in Dhaka was part of the prime minister’s regular schedule of political and administrative engagements aimed at reinforcing communication between the government leadership and lawmakers.

Further details of the discussions held during the meeting were not immediately disclosed.
