A Bangladeshi worker was injured along with three others when two drones struck near Dubai International Airport (DXB) on Wednesday morning, Dubai authorities confirmed.
According to Gulf News, the incident left one Bangladeshi, two Ghanaians and one Indian national hurt. The Bangladeshi and the two Ghanaians sustained minor injuries, while the Indian national suffered moderate injuries. All received prompt medical care. Officials stated that air traffic operations at DXB continue normally.
Dubai Airports, which manages both DXB and Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC), noted that partial airport operations had resumed from 7 March following a brief disruption. Travelers have been advised to check with their airlines before heading to the airports, as flight schedules may still change.
This is the second drone-related incident in March. On 1 March, a concourse at DXB suffered minor damage, injuring four airport staff members who were quickly treated. Emergency response teams acted promptly to secure the area and ensure passenger safety.
Dubai International Airport handled a record 95.2 million passengers in 2025, a 3.1 per cent increase from the previous year, making it the busiest year in the airport’s history and the highest annual international passenger traffic of any airport worldwide. December alone saw 8.7 million travellers, marking the airport’s busiest month ever.
In the fourth quarter of 2025, DXB recorded 25.1 million passengers, a 5.9 per cent increase over the same period in 2024, with 1,18,000 flight movements - up 5 per cent - bringing the annual total to 4,54,800, a rise of 3.3 per cent from the previous year.
Authorities reiterated that all necessary safety measures are in place and assured the public that the airports remain fully operational despite the drone incidents.
