Home Minister and BNP Standing Committee member Salahuddin Ahmed said on Thursday that a discrimination-free Bangladesh would be built in line with the vision of BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia. He stated that this society would be established to ensure the overall development of the country, as once envisioned by the former prime minister Begum Khaleda Zia.

While participating in a discussion on a condolence motion during the maiden session of the 13th National Parliament on Thursday, Salahuddin Ahmed paid tribute to Begum Khaleda Zia and several other noted political and social personalities who had recently passed away. Recalling her political legacy, he highlighted Khaleda Zia’s instrumental role in restoring democratic values in the country, noting that she provided decisive leadership during the most critical moments of the nation’s political history.

Ahmed also remarked that Khaleda Zia played a significant leadership role during the July mass uprising in 2024. The senior BNP leader reflected on the profound contributions of both the Liberation War of 1971 and the July Mass Uprising of 2024 with due honour and respect, pledging to build a Bangladesh that reflects the aspirations of those movements.

He added that the condolence motion presented in parliament served to honour the contributions of the departed leaders and formally acknowledged their significant roles in shaping the nation’s political and social landscape.
