Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed is participating in the Global Fraud Summit 2026 in Vienna, where he has drawn notable attention as a panel speaker in two major discussions on tackling fraud and financial crimes.
According to a press release from the Home Ministry, the two-day summit is being held on 16-17 March at the Vienna International Centre and is jointly organised by the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) and INTERPOL.
The event has brought together policymakers, law enforcement officials and experts from across the world to discuss strategies for combating fraud and scam-related crimes.
During the summit, Salahuddin Ahmed is expected to present Bangladesh’s experience in dealing with fraud and cyber-enabled scams, as well as outline measures taken by the government to strengthen prevention, enforcement and victim protection.
The minister took part in the opening session of the conference on Monday and is scheduled to join two key panel discussions. These include a high-level roundtable on the “Global Fraud Response Mechanism” and a special session titled “National Commitments and Pledges on Combating Fraud.”
Participants at the summit have shown considerable interest in Bangladesh’s initiatives to address fraud, reflecting the country’s growing engagement in global efforts to combat financial and cybercrimes.
On the sidelines of the conference, the home minister is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with senior international officials, including John Brandolino and Lord Hanson, to discuss cooperation in tackling transnational crime.
Salahuddin Ahmed left Dhaka on 15 March via Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport to attend the summit and is scheduled to return to the country on 20 March.
