A Bangladeshi expatriate, who was injured in a missile attack in Saudi Arabia 10 days back, died while undergoing treatment at a hospital, family members confirmed on Wednesday.

Deceased Abdullah Al Mamun, 35, was the son of Shahid Saudagar. He hailed from Bharbhara Village under Rasulpur Union in Gafargaon Upazila of Mymensingh.

According to family sources, Mamun was critically injured on 8 March when a missile hit a workers’ camp operated by Al Towaik Baladiya Company in Al Kharij City, shortly before iftar. Several workers were reportedly present at the site at the time of the strike.

He was rushed to Dr Sulaiman Al Habib Hospital in Al Kharij, where he remained on life support for several days. Despite medical efforts, he passed away late on Tuesday. His body has since been kept at the hospital morgue.

Mamun’s death has left his family and local community in deep mourning. Relatives said he had been working in Saudi Arabia to support his family back home and was the sole breadwinner.

He is survived by his wife and a young son.

Family members have urged authorities to take immediate steps to repatriate his body to Bangladesh so that he can be laid to rest in his village home.
