Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon on Tuesday announced that individuals injured during the 2024 anti-fascist movement, along with the children of those who were martyred, will be provided free education up to the university level.
The directive was issued on the first working day after the Eid holidays during a meeting at the minister’s office in the Secretariat.
The decision is part of the government’s broader effort to support those who made sacrifices during the movement and to ensure that their families are not deprived of educational opportunities.
According to the minister, the initiative aims to recognise the contributions of the “July fighters” and honour the legacy of the martyrs by investing in the future of their families.
He emphasised that access to education is a fundamental right and that the government is committed to removing financial barriers for those affected by the events of 2024.
Officials said necessary steps will be taken to implement the policy, including identifying eligible beneficiaries and coordinating with educational institutions to ensure smooth execution. The programme is expected to cover tuition and other essential academic expenses through higher education.
The minister also noted that such initiatives reflect the government’s responsibility to stand by those who have sacrificed for the country, adding that ensuring education for their children is both a moral duty and a long-term investment in national development.
