Gold prices in Bangladesh have risen once more, with the cost of 22-carat gold surpassing Tk247,000 per bhori, marking a fresh increase in the domestic market.
The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (Bajus) announced the revised rates in a statement on Wednesday, with the new prices taking effect from 10:00am.
According to Bajus, the adjustment reflects a rise in the price of pure gold in the international market, which has influenced local pricing.
Under the updated rates, 22-carat gold is now priced at Tk247,977 per bhori (11.664 grams), up from Tk244,711 the previous day. Similarly, 21-carat gold has been set at Tk236,721 per bhori, while 18-carat gold now costs Tk202,895 per bhori. Gold produced under traditional methods is priced at Tk165,279 per bhori.
Despite the increase in gold prices, silver rates have remained unchanged. A bhori of 22-carat silver is priced at Tk5,715, while 21-carat silver stands at Tk5,424. The price for 18-carat silver is Tk4,666 per bhori, and silver produced through traditional methods is priced at Tk3,500.
Market observers say fluctuations in global gold prices continue to drive domestic adjustments, with currency movements and supply dynamics also influencing local trends.
