A Dhaka court has rejected the bail plea in the Sharif Osman Hadi murder case, denying relief to accused Sanjay Chisim over allegations of assisting key suspects in fleeing the country.
The order was issued by Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Sabbir Faiz after hearing arguments on the bail petition on Wednesday.
Sanjay Chisim is accused of aiding prime suspect Foysal Karim Masud and his associate Alamgir Hossain in escaping to India following the killing of Sharif Osman Hadi, spokesperson of Inqilab Moncho.
According to the case statement, Foysal Karim Masud and Alamgir Hossain opened fire on Hadi on December 12, 2025, while he was travelling in a battery-operated auto-rickshaw in Dhaka. The attackers fled the scene immediately after the shooting.
Hadi was later pronounced dead on December 18, prompting authorities to escalate the case from attempted murder to murder under Section 302 of the Penal Code.
The case was filed on December 14 at Paltan Model Police Station by Abdullah Al Zaber, Member Secretary of Inqilab Moncho.
A Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate subsequently ordered the inclusion of the murder charge following Hadi’s death, bringing the case under stricter legal provisions.
Legal experts say the court’s decision to deny bail reflects the seriousness of the allegations and the ongoing investigation into the killing and subsequent escape of the accused.
The case continues to draw attention due to its political and organisational links, as authorities pursue further developments in the investigation.
