The Bangladesh government has clarified that there is no change in government office hours, urging the public not to be misled by misinformation circulating on social media.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, the Ministry of Public Administration said a false notification claiming changes in office schedules and a plan to operate government offices three days a week to save electricity and energy has been widely shared since April 1.
The ministry confirmed that no such directive has been issued and described the circulating information as misleading.
Officials said the clarification was necessary to prevent confusion, as the false claims suggested a major policy shift linked to energy conservation measures.
The government urged citizens to rely only on official sources for information regarding administrative decisions and public sector operations.
The clarification comes at a time when discussions around energy management and efficiency have increased due to global market volatility, making the spread of such misinformation more impactful.
Authorities warned that spreading unverified information can create unnecessary panic and disrupt normal administrative activities.
The Ministry of Public Administration said it remains committed to transparent communication and will continue to issue official updates through verified channels.
