Bangladesh has conveyed a message of solidarity to the United Arab Emirates amid escalating regional tensions, underscoring diplomatic engagement as geopolitical instability continues to affect the Gulf region.
Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir delivered a personal letter from Prime Minister Tarique Rahman during a meeting with UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan in Abu Dhabi on Wednesday.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the letter, addressed to UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, expressed Bangladesh’s “firm solidarity” with the UAE leadership, government and people in light of the ongoing conflict situation.
The Prime Minister voiced concern over recent attacks, highlighting the loss of lives, injuries and damage to property. He also expressed appreciation for the UAE’s continued support in hosting Bangladeshi expatriates and ensuring their safety during the crisis.
Bangladesh reaffirmed its readiness to extend support if required and reiterated its commitment to strengthening bilateral ties, including an invitation for the UAE president to visit Bangladesh.
During the meeting, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan conveyed condolences over the deaths of two Bangladeshi nationals in recent attacks and assured that the UAE government remains committed to protecting all residents, regardless of nationality.
He also expressed appreciation for Bangladesh’s solidarity, reflecting continued diplomatic alignment between the two countries.
Humayun Kabir emphasised the importance of restraint and called for resolving tensions through dialogue and diplomatic channels, highlighting Bangladesh’s position in favour of peaceful conflict resolution.
The discussions also covered broader bilateral relations, with both sides describing ties as strong and reaffirming cooperation across sectors of mutual interest, including economic and strategic engagement.
The visit forms part of Bangladesh’s wider diplomatic outreach to Gulf countries, as the government seeks to maintain regional stability and protect its overseas workforce amid evolving geopolitical challenges.
Analysts say such diplomatic engagement remains crucial as tensions in the Middle East continue to influence global energy markets, labour mobility and economic cooperation.
