US Ambassador to Bangladesh Brent T Christensen paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Sunday, reaffirming the ongoing diplomatic engagement between the two countries.
The meeting took place at the Prime Minister’s Cabinet Division office at the Bangladesh Secretariat around noon, according to Prime Minister’s Additional Press Secretary Atikur Rahman Ruman.
The discussion was held in a cordial atmosphere and focused on issues of mutual interest between Bangladesh and the United States.
During the meeting, Ambassador Brent T Christensen presented the Prime Minister with two framed photographs and a replica of the White House as symbolic gestures of goodwill and friendship. One of the photographs featured Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman alongside former US President Jimmy Carter, while the other depicted former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia with former US President George Bush Sr.
Officials said the exchange of memorabilia highlighted the long-standing diplomatic relations and historical ties between Bangladesh and the United States.
Foreign Minister Dr Khalilur Rahman and Prime Minister’s Adviser on Foreign Affairs Humayun Kabir were also present at the meeting.
While specific details of the discussions were not disclosed, officials noted that the talks covered a range of bilateral issues, reflecting the continued cooperation between the two nations in areas of shared interest.
