A legal notice has been sent to the relevant government authorities requesting a travel ban on outgoing interim government Chief Adviser Dr Muhammad Yunus.
The notice, issued on Monday by Supreme Court lawyer M Ashraful Islam, also calls for restrictions on all advisers of the interim government’s advisory council.
The legal action comes amid allegations that Dr Yunus and other advisers played a role in transferring the measles vaccination programme from public to private management.
Ashraful Islam described this shift as “unlawful and harmful,” arguing that it could undermine public health efforts and limit access to essential vaccinations for children, particularly in vulnerable communities.
In a Facebook post, the lawyer explained that he had formally submitted the notice to the authorities, urging them to prevent Dr Yunus and other advisers from leaving the country while the allegations are being reviewed.
He stressed that the move is intended to ensure accountability and protect state-managed healthcare services from decisions that may negatively affect citizens.
According to Ashraful Islam, the notice highlights concern about privatising critical public health initiatives and the potential risks this poses to the wider population.
He emphasised that maintaining state control over vaccination services, such as measles immunisation, is essential to safeguard public health and ensure equitable access for all.
