Thirteen countries, including Australia, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Switzerland, Norway, Spain, France and Denmark, have jointly urged Bangladeshi citizens seeking visas, permits, or other consular services to strictly follow official procedures and avoid unauthorised channels.

In a joint message shared by the British High Commission in Dhaka, these countries warned applicants against submitting falsified documents or engaging with unlicensed agents.

They emphasised that relying on intermediaries claiming special access or influence over visa decisions could lead to serious consequences, including financial loss, delays, refusal at borders, and potential legal action.

“No mission is affiliated with any agents,” the message noted, highlighting that all applicants should only depend on verified information and official channels provided by the respective diplomatic authorities. The countries also reminded applicants not to make payments to unauthorised individuals or organisations under any circumstances.

The joint statement stressed that the aim of this advisory is to maintain a safe, fair and transparent application process for everyone. The participating nations, through their missions in Dhaka, underscored the importance of adhering to proper procedures to ensure the integrity of consular services and prevent exploitation by fraudulent actors.

Applicants are encouraged to consult official websites and verified communication channels of each country’s embassy or consulate for accurate information on visa procedures, documentation requirements, and application timelines. The advisory comes in light of growing reports of fraudulent intermediaries targeting prospective applicants in Bangladesh.
