Bangladesh on Wednesday welcomed the announcement of a temporary ceasefire in the ongoing conflict in the Middle East, calling it a positive development and an important step toward de-escalation in the troubled region.
In a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the government expressed hope that all parties involved would adhere to the ceasefire and use the window of opportunity to engage constructively in dialogue aimed at achieving a durable and sustainable peace. Dhaka underscored the urgency of pursuing diplomatic measures to address the underlying causes of the conflict and to prevent further loss of human life and humanitarian suffering.
Bangladesh also acknowledged and appreciated the efforts of all countries and international organisations that played a role in facilitating the ceasefire.
The government urged continued engagement by regional and global actors to support a long-term resolution and to create an environment conducive to reconciliation and stability.
Reiterating its longstanding stance, Bangladesh emphasised that all disputes must be resolved peacefully, through dialogue, negotiation, and adherence to international law. Dhaka further highlighted the importance of protecting civilians, ensuring humanitarian access, and rebuilding trust among communities affected by the conflict.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs concluded by stating that Bangladesh remains committed to supporting initiatives that foster peace, security and regional stability, and called on all sides to turn the ceasefire into a stepping stone for permanent resolution.
