The government of Bangladesh is preparing a stronger enforcement framework to prevent question paper leaks and ensure fair Secondary School Certificate (SSC) examinations, Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon said on Friday.
Speaking at a virtual meeting with centre secretaries held at Chattogram College auditorium, the minister said authorities will adopt “zero tolerance” against any individuals or groups involved in leaking question papers or undermining exam integrity.
He warned that strict legal action would be taken ahead of the SSC examinations against any form of malpractice, stressing that no one would be spared if found guilty.
The minister said the government is also planning to centralise contact numbers of all centre secretaries to improve coordination and strengthen real-time monitoring during examinations.
He added that preparations are underway to introduce a unified question paper system nationwide for the SSC exams.
Addressing concerns over coaching practices, ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon said teachers conducting private coaching outside institutional premises may face disciplinary action.
However, he indicated that coaching within schools could be permitted under official guidelines with additional remuneration.
To further ensure transparency, he said answer script evaluation will include regular sampling checks to detect irregularities and reduce the scope for malpractice.
The minister also clarified that educational institutions with zero pass rates will not lose their Monthly Pay Order (MPO) status, easing concerns among schools.
He urged all stakeholders, including teachers, administrators and exam officials, to work together to maintain discipline and improve the credibility of public examinations.
Chattogram Education Board Chairman Abdullah Al Mamun chaired the meeting, which was also attended by senior education officials and examination controllers.
