A Bangladeshi expatriate woman has been killed in an Israeli airstrike in Lebanon, according to a statement issued by the Bangladesh Embassy in Beirut on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Dipali, hailed from Char Shalepur Village under Charbhadrasan Upazila in Faridpur. She was the daughter of Sheikh Mofazzal and Rozina Khatun.

The embassy confirmed that the incident took place on Wednesday last in the Hamra area of Beirut, where she had been residing with her employer’s family.

According to preliminary information, the airstrike directly hit the building where Dipali was staying. The attack also reportedly killed her sponsor and several members of the sponsor’s family, highlighting the severity of the strike amid ongoing regional tensions.

Local police sources said Dipali’s body has been kept at the morgue of Rafik Hariri University Hospital in Beirut. Authorities are currently working to complete necessary formalities.

The Bangladesh Embassy has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic death and extended heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family. In its statement, the embassy said it is maintaining close communication with local authorities to gather further details about the incident and to facilitate the repatriation of the body.

Officials also noted that efforts are underway to ensure all legal procedures are completed as quickly as possible so that Dipali’s remains can be returned to Bangladesh.
