Members of Border Guard Bangladesh have been deployed at multiple locations across the country to ensure security for the inauguration of the nationwide ‘Farmer Card’ distribution programme.
The initiative is set to be formally launched on Tuesday by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman as part of the government’s election pledges. The programme will begin under a pre-piloting phase in 11 upazilas across 10 districts.
According to a statement from BGB, personnel have been stationed at key venues to facilitate the smooth and peaceful conduct of the events. The deployments cover several locations, including educational institutions and public venues in districts such as Panchagarh, Bogura, Rajbari, Jhenaidah, Cumilla, Jamalpur, Moulvibazar and Cox’s Bazar.
Officials said the force has been deployed as required to maintain law and order, working in coordination with other law enforcement agencies to ensure overall security during the programme.
Authorities added that BGB personnel are carrying out their duties with professionalism to ensure the successful, secure and orderly implementation of the distribution initiative.
