Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Tuesday reiterated that the July National Charter will be fully implemented, warning that any attempt to create instability over the issue will be firmly resisted.

Speaking at a rally at Mawlana Bhashani Science and Technology University in Tangail, the Prime Minister accused opposition parties of trying to create confusion and unrest centring on the charter’s implementation.

He said the July Charter, signed by political parties at the invitation of Dr Muhammad Yunus at the South Plaza of Parliament, would be implemented in full.

“Every word and every provision of the July Charter will be executed,” he said, adding that the government remains committed to honouring the agreement.

The Prime Minister questioned the position of opposition parties, noting that some had hesitated or delayed signing the charter despite now raising concerns over its implementation.

He also criticised what he described as attempts by certain groups to create instability and disrupt governance, urging people to remain vigilant.

Highlighting key government initiatives such as the Farmers’ Card, Family Card and canal excavation programmes, he warned that any effort to obstruct these welfare activities would be resisted jointly by the government and the public.

“We will not allow anyone to create obstacles to programmes aimed at improving people’s lives,” he said.

Referring to recent elections, including those in Sherpur-3 and Bogura-6, the Prime Minister said the polls were largely peaceful, with only minor incidents reported.

However, he expressed concern over rising tensions in certain areas, cautioning against efforts to destabilise the situation.

He also said that although authoritarian rule has ended, its influence still lingers, making it necessary for citizens to remain alert against misinformation and unrest.

“This country is our only home. We must work together to build the Bangladesh we aspire to see,” he added.

Senior leaders, including ministers and lawmakers, attended the rally.

Earlier, the Prime Minister visited the grave of Abdul Hamid Khan Bhasani in Santosh before returning to Dhaka.
