Bangladesh has reaffirmed its strong commitment to United Nations peacekeeping, signalling its readiness to further strengthen contributions in partnership with the UN and the wider international community at a high-level mission event in New York.
The Permanent Mission of Bangladesh to the United Nations hosted a luncheon in honour of Heads of Military Components and Force Commanders serving in UN peacekeeping missions at its premises, according to a message received in Dhaka on Thursday.
The event was attended by Jean-Pierre Lacroix, Atul Khare and Cheryl Pearce, alongside force commanders, senior UN officials and diplomats.
In his welcome remarks, Bangladesh’s permanent representative to the UN, Salahuddin Noman Chowdhury, expressed deep appreciation for the leadership of force commanders and heads of military components serving in challenging missions.
He also paid tribute to peacekeepers who made the ultimate sacrifice in the line of duty, underscoring Bangladesh’s continued commitment to global peacekeeping efforts and its readiness to enhance contributions in close collaboration with the United Nations.
The programme was moderated by Defence Attaché Mohammad Golam Rabbani, who concluded the event by thanking the distinguished guests for their participation.
