Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman on Monday asserted that any attempt to disrupt peace and stability in Bangladesh will be firmly resisted.
Addressing a public rally at the Jashore Central Eidgah Ground organised by the district BNP in the afternoon, he called on citizens to remain vigilant so that no group can create unrest or bring back prolonged shutdowns like past hartals.
“We must stay alert to ensure no one gets the opportunity to disturb public peace or create instability,” he said.
The Prime Minister also warned against efforts to mislead people through fear, propaganda, or misinformation, adding that his party is committed to bringing meaningful change to the country.
“From this gathering, we pledge to transform the destiny of the nation,” he said, emphasising that BNP believes in practical work rather than empty promises.
He stated that his party seeks genuine public support through performance, not through deception or political manipulation. He also urged citizens to work collectively towards national development.
Highlighting BNP’s electoral mandate, Tarique Rahman said the people of Bangladesh have placed their trust in the party and entrusted it with the responsibility to deliver on its commitments.
At the same time, he criticised certain groups for questioning BNP’s legitimacy and labelling it unfairly, urging the public to judge who truly aligns with undemocratic forces.
The Prime Minister reiterated his party’s stance on accountability, saying BNP supports the prosecution of those involved in killings during the July-August mass uprising. He also took aim at critics who had earlier suggested granting blanket pardons after political changes.
Referring to recent political developments, he alleged that some outspoken critics had themselves engaged in controversial meetings but failed to justify their actions when questioned by the public.
Outlining BNP’s priorities, Tarique Rahman said the government is focusing on key sectors such as education, healthcare, employment and agriculture.
“Our focus is on education for women, healthcare and vaccination for children, employment for youth, support for farmers, and ensuring medical services for all,” he said.
He added that the government plans to expand these services nationwide while creating more job opportunities.
The Prime Minister also mentioned that BNP has signed the July Charter with other political parties and intends to implement it fully through Parliament.
Urging continued vigilance, he warned that certain groups are trying to create confusion, as they have done during significant moments in the country’s history, including 1971, 1986 and 2009.
“The same elements are active again. We must remain cautious as we work to move the country forward and improve people’s lives,” he said.
Concluding his speech, Tarique Rahman said the people of Bangladesh aspire to peace, prosperity and a better standard of living, and expect the government to fulfil its election promises and ensure development across all regions.
