Prime Minister and BNP Chairman Tarique Rahman has urged party members to engage in a “new battle” to deliver on the promises made in the party’s election manifesto.
Speaking on Saturday at a views-exchange meeting in Dhaka, the Prime Minister stated that his government cannot succeed without the active support of its grassroots activists.
The closed-door session, held at the Krishibid Institution Bangladesh auditorium, began around 10:45 am. It marked the first major interaction between the party leadership and district-level organisers since the 13th parliamentary election held on 12 February.
The Prime Minister told the assembled leaders that while one battle had ended with the election victory, another had begun to implement the commitments made to the public.
He emphasised that the manifesto received the backing of 52 per cent of voters. After the party formed the government, it transitioned from a party document into a formal mandate of the people.
Tarique Rahman stressed that the highest efforts must now be made to ensure good governance and create a healthy educational environment for students. He also pledged to guarantee the safety of all men, women, and children.
Central to the government’s agenda is a shift in political culture. The Prime Minister expressed a desire to build a nation where no individual faces repression, enforced disappearance, or politically motivated killings.
He called for an environment defined by debates and discussions rather than oppression. He warned that the success of the administration depends entirely on the cooperation of those leading the party at different levels.
The Prime Minister noted that without the backing of the party, the government would be unable to reach its desired goals. He stated that the cooperation of every leader present at the meeting is necessary for success.
The day-long meeting also addressed organisational activities and presented the government’s strategic plans to the grassroots. Senior party figures attended the session in a show of unified support.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir appeared as a special guest, while Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi chaired the proceedings.
Several members of the BNP Standing Committee were also in attendance, including Khandaker Mosharraf Hossain, Abdul Moyeen Khan, and Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury.
Other prominent attendees included Salahuddin Ahmed, Iqbal Hasan Mahmud Tuku, Selima Rahman, and AZM Zahid Hossain.
Ruhul Kabir Rizvi confirmed that the meeting served as a critical platform to align the party’s grassroots with the government’s roadmap.
By involving district-level leaders and associate bodies, the administration aims to ensure that its policy promises are felt across the country.
The Prime Minister concluded by reiterating that the cooperation of every leader present was essential to transforming the party’s vision into a functional reality for the people of Bangladesh.
