The body of Nahida Sultana Brishty, a Bangladeshi student who was killed in the United States, was brought back to Bangladesh on Saturday morning, days after the tragic incident that shocked both Bangladeshi and expatriate communities.

It was known that the body arrived at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka at around 9:10am aboard an Emirates flight via Dubai. Family members and relatives were present at the airport to receive the body.

Brishty’s remains were transported from Orlando International Airport in Florida on Thursday night at 8:50pm local time on Emirates flight EK-0220. Following a transit in Dubai, the coffin was flown to Dhaka on another Emirates flight, EK-0582.

Officials concerned said a representative from the Bangladesh Consulate in Miami remained present at the Orlando airport during the departure formalities and coordinated the repatriation process.

Earlier this week, Brishty’s first funeral prayer was held in Tampa, Florida, where members of the Bangladeshi community gathered to pay their final respects.

Brishty was killed in the same incident that claimed the life of Jamil Ahmed Limon, another Bangladeshi student in the United States. Limon’s body had already been returned to Bangladesh on 4 May.

The deaths of the two young Bangladeshis sparked widespread grief and concern both at home and abroad. Their tragic killings drew attention from Bangladeshi diplomatic missions in the United States, which assisted in handling official procedures and supporting the victims’ families during the repatriation process.
