Fisheries, Livestock and Agriculture Minister Mohammed Amin ur Rashid on Tuesday called for ensuring transparency, accountability and strong monitoring in the implementation of ongoing government programmes.
He made the remarks while addressing a discussion meeting on the implementation of the government’s 180-day action plan held at the ministry conference room in the Secretariat in Dhaka. Senior officials, including joint secretaries and project directors, attended the meeting.
The minister instructed all concerned officials to carry out their duties with responsibility and dedication to ensure the successful execution of development initiatives under the programme.
He described the 180-day plan as a welfare-oriented initiative aimed at translating development commitments into real improvements in people’s lives. The programme, he said, has been undertaken to implement the development agenda announced by Tarique Rahman.
Emphasising results at the grassroots level, the minister said coordinated efforts were essential to ensure that citizens directly benefit from government activities. He expressed optimism that collective responsibility and proper execution would help achieve the programme’s objectives.
He also directed officials to maintain detailed documentation and evidence of all activities so that progress can be properly assessed and presented to the public.
According to him, government information should be communicated in simple and accessible language, not limited to official websites.
He stressed the importance of visible communication efforts at union and upazila levels so that citizens can easily understand development activities.
The minister further underlined the need for a transparent working environment that allows the public to evaluate government performance with confidence and trust.
The meeting was also attended by Fisheries and Livestock Secretary Md Delwar Hossain, Director General of the Department of Fisheries Md Zia Haider Chowdhury, Director General of the Department of Livestock Services Md Shahzaman Khan, and other senior officials and project directors.
