The government of Bangladesh has announced revised schedules for the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) examinations for 2027, with SSC and equivalent exams set to begin on 7 January and HSC and equivalent exams scheduled to start on 6 June.
Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon disclosed the dates at a press conference held at the Secretariat in Dhaka on Thursday afternoon.
According to the minister, the SSC examinations are expected to continue until 6 February, while the HSC examinations are scheduled to conclude on 13 July.
He said preparations for finalising the examination routines are already underway and detailed schedules will be announced in due course.
The revised timetable comes after the authorities reconsidered an earlier proposal to hold the examinations in December. The Education Ministry decided to change the schedule following objections and recommendations from various stakeholders, including education-related groups and concerned parties.
Officials said the revised dates were set to ensure better academic preparation and smoother management of public examinations across the country.
The announcement is expected to provide students, teachers and educational institutions with a clearer academic roadmap well ahead of the examinations. Authorities also hope the updated schedule will help avoid administrative complications and allow institutions to complete syllabus activities in a more organised manner.
The SSC and HSC examinations are considered two of the country’s most important public examinations, involving millions of students each year under different education boards nationwide.
