Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is heading to Chandpur on Saturday for a busy day of official business. This marks his very first trip to the district since taking office as Prime Minister, making it a highly anticipated event for the region.

According to his schedule on Friday, the Prime Minister will leave Dhaka by car at 8:30 am. On his way to Chandpur, he plans to stop in Comilla to speak at a public rally at the Lakshmipur Bazar ground around 11:30 am.

The main focus of the trip is on improving local water systems. Shortly after midday, Tarique Rahman will kick off the digging and cleaning of the Khordda Canal in Shahrasti. About an hour later, he will head to Chandpur Sadar to launch a similar project for the Bishwa Canal. These canal projects are designed to help local farmers with irrigation and prevent drainage issues in the area.

After a short rest at the local Circuit House, the afternoon will focus on helping families in need. At 3:30 pm, the Prime Minister will be at the Chandpur Government College ground to hand out “Family Cards.” these cards are part of a government programme to help people access essential goods and support.

Before returning to the capital, the Prime Minister—who also leads the BNP—will meet with local party members at the Chandpur Club at 5:00 pm to discuss local issues and organisation.

The Prime Minister is expected to head back to Dhaka at 6:30 pm. Local officials have been working around the clock to make sure the visit goes smoothly, with extra security in place across the town.
