Bangladesh Railway has commenced its scheduled rollout of special train services across the country to ease the annual travel surge of homebound passengers ahead of Eid-ul-Azha.

The state-funded operator is introducing an expanded timetable across key territorial networks to alleviate heavy passenger congestion. The initial service on the network, the Parbatipur Eid Special-10, departed from Parbatipur on Monday morning bound for Joydebpur. The reverse leg of the route, the Parbatipur Eid Special-9, is scheduled to make its return transit later on Monday evening.

Additional regional services are scheduled to expand the network starting Tuesday, 25 May. These expansions will see the introduction of the Chandpur Eid Special-1 and 2, alongside the Teesta Eid Special-3 and 4, connecting further high-density corridors across the country.

The targeted operations will run for an initial three-day period during the peak pre-festival window. The initiative represents a structured attempt by rail infrastructure managers to cope with intense passenger volumes and prevent systemic disruptions across core commercial tracks. Following the conclusion of the holiday, the railway intends to deploy equivalent return services to assist the workforce returning to central urban industrial hubs.
