Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has expressed deep shock and sorrow over the loss of lives caused by a coal mine explosion in China’s Shanxi Province.
In a message issued on Sunday, the Prime Minister said Bangladesh was deeply saddened by the tragic incident and the heavy loss of life resulting from the explosion.
“We are deeply saddened by hearing the news of the coal mine explosion in Shanxi Province and the heartbreaking loss of so many lives,” he said.
On behalf of the government and the people of Bangladesh, Tarique Rahman extended sincere condolences to the bereaved families and the people of China during what he described as a time of profound grief.
The Prime Minister also expressed concern for those injured in the incident and conveyed support for the rescue teams continuing operations to locate missing individuals.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with those injured, as well as the rescue teams working tirelessly to find the missing,” he said.
Tarique Rahman further said Bangladesh stands in solidarity with China and appreciated the ongoing efforts to assist victims, provide medical support to the injured, and investigate the cause of the incident.
“We will be praying for strength, comfort, and healing for all those affected by this tragedy,” he added.
