Prime Minister’s Adviser and Prime Minister’s Office Spokesperson Mahdi Amin on Monday said the government has implemented around 60 key decisions taken in its first 100 days, describing its governance approach as “humane and people-centric politics.”

Speaking at a press briefing at the Prime Minister’s Office in Dhaka’s Tejgaon, he said the incumbent administration, led by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, has taken “visible and effective steps” across multiple sectors since taking office following the 12 February parliamentary election.

Mahdi Amin said the cabinet held 10 meetings between 17 February and 24 May, during which 60 major decisions were approved. Of these, 37 have already been implemented while the rest are in progress, he added.

He said the government has focused on strengthening social security, agriculture, health, education, employment, infrastructure and governance, claiming these initiatives have “restored public trust” after years of political instability.

Among early measures, he mentioned the introduction of the “Family Card” to expand women-focused social safety coverage, the launch of the “Farmer Card” to digitise agricultural management, and waiver of interest on small agricultural loans up to Tk10,000.

The spokesperson also highlighted the withdrawal of additional charges on prepaid electricity meters and expansion of honorariums for religious leaders, including imams, muazzins and khatibs.

On economic and development initiatives, he said preparations are underway for major infrastructure projects including the Teknaf-Tentulia economic corridor and the third terminal of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, expected to be inaugurated by 16 December.

He further said the government has seized Tk4,264 crore worth of immovable assets linked to S Alam Group and is working with foreign partners to recover laundered money abroad.

Mahdi Amin said remittance inflows had reached a record high of around $3.75 billion in a single month, while a special Tk60,000 crore fund has been announced to reopen closed factories and create employment opportunities.

In the health sector, he claimed nearly 100 per cent measles vaccination coverage for children has been achieved, alongside steps to expand maternity leave and raise health sector allocation to 5 percent of GDP over time.

Referring to governance philosophy, he said the government is committed to freedom of speech and human rights but warned against what he called “propaganda and hate politics.”

He also said the administration is working to ensure speedy justice in high-profile cases, citing recent verdicts and ongoing trials.

The briefing also highlighted plans for digital identity cards for freelancers, expansion of overseas education facilities, improved transport arrangements during Eid, and steps to enhance public services.

Mahdi Amin said the government aims to build a trillion-dollar economy by 2034 and has taken initiatives to improve welfare, employment and institutional governance in its early tenure.

Officials present at the briefing included senior aides and press officials from the Prime Minister’s Office.
