The Department of Posts in Bangladesh has introduced a nationwide online tracking system that allows citizens to monitor the movement of letters, parcels and e-commerce deliveries from their homes, marking a major step in the modernisation of postal services.
The new service has been launched through the Domestic Mail Monitoring Software (DMS), developed under the government’s ongoing postal modernisation programme. Alongside the software, 14 modern mail processing and logistics centres have been established across the country to improve efficiency and service quality.
Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology Minister Faqir Mahbub Anam said the government is working to strengthen logistics infrastructure and expand digital platforms to ensure faster and more reliable postal services for citizens.
According to the minister, the newly established processing centres include chilling chamber facilities to support the transportation and handling of temperature-sensitive products. To further facilitate the delivery of perishable goods, the Department of Posts has procured 1,000 thermal boxes for use within its transport network.
The DMS platform enables customers to track letters, parcels and products purchased through digital commerce in real time, significantly improving transparency and customer convenience.
To sustain and further enhance these services, the government is preparing a new development initiative aimed at strengthening the capacity of the mail processing centres and upgrading the digital monitoring platform.
Several infrastructure projects are also underway. Construction, renovation and expansion work is being carried out at 270 post office buildings nationwide, while another 39 post office facilities are being developed under separate projects.
In addition, the government has prepared a digital transformation roadmap for the postal sector and is moving forward with projects focused on automation, service digitisation and improved accessibility. Authorities believe these initiatives will help transform Bangladesh’s postal network into a modern, technology-driven public service capable of meeting growing consumer and e-commerce demands.
