Five more children have died from measles-like symptoms in the 24 hours to 8:00am on Friday, taking the total number of deaths linked to the outbreak in Bangladesh to 610, according to health authorities.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said the latest fatalities have been classified as suspected cases.
Of the total deaths, 519 have been recorded as suspected measles-related fatalities, while confirmed deaths remain unchanged at 91.
In the 24 hours to Wednesday morning, 1,168 suspected measles cases were recorded, bringing the total number of suspected infections to 76,876. During the same period, 243 new confirmed cases were reported, taking total confirmed infections to 9,503.
Since 15 March, 62,287 suspected measles patients have been admitted to hospital. Of them, 58,154 have recovered, according to DGHS data.
