A gas leak in Dhaka’s Uttarkhan caused a large fire, leaving three people with serious burns.
Rescuers pulled out 50-year-old Ali Hossain, 40-year-old Hasna Hena and 30-year-old Akhi from the house in the Uttarkhan area. They were taken to the National Institute of Burn and Plastic Surgery at around 07:30 local time on Saturday.
Doctors say two of the victims are in a critical condition. Dr Shaon Bin Rahman, a doctor at the hospital, said Mr Hossain suffered burns over 100 per cent of his body.
Ms Hena has burns on 60 per cent of her body, and the third victim, Akhi, is being treated for 15 per cent burns.
All three are now admitted to the hospital. Medical staff are watching them closely and giving them around-the-clock care to help them recover.
Gas pipe leaks are a common danger in the area. This fire is a strong reminder for everyone to check their home gas pipes regularly and follow basic safety rules.
