Bangladesh has reported 915 new suspected measles cases and three deaths with measles-like symptoms in the past 24 hours, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) bulletin released on Saturday.
The health authorities said that during the same period, 117 cases of measles were confirmed between 8am on Friday and 8am on Saturday. However, no confirmed deaths were recorded within this 24-hour reporting window.
DGHS data showed that since 15 March, the country has recorded a total of 9,620 confirmed measles cases, while suspected cases have risen to 77,791.
The bulletin also stated that 91 deaths have been confirmed due to measles since the outbreak began, while 522 additional deaths have been reported among suspected cases.
Health officials further noted that recovery rates remain significant, with 58,964 patients having recovered so far from measles or related complications.
The authorities continue to monitor the outbreak situation closely, as hospitals across the country remain under pressure due to the rising number of suspected infections and admissions.
Public health experts have urged increased vigilance, early diagnosis, and expanded immunisation coverage to help contain the spread of the disease and reduce complications, particularly among children.
