A three-member US delegation, led by US Ambassador in Dhaka Brent T. Christensen, paid a courtesy call on the Prime Minister’s Defence Adviser, Brigadier General (retd) Dr AKM Shamsul Islam, on Tuesday.
An ISPR press release stated that the meeting took place in the Defence Adviser’s office at the Armed Forces Division in Dhaka Cantonment.
During the meeting, they discussed the excellent bilateral relations that exist between Bangladesh and the United States and various issues related to mutual interest.
They also discussed in detail the issues of cooperation at the military level, exchange of experiences and expansion of training activities between the two countries.
The Defense Adviser recalled the long-standing friendly relations between Bangladesh and the United States and expressed that this cooperation in the defence sector will further accelerate in the coming days.
During the meeting, the US Ambassador highly appreciated the professionalism of the Bangladesh Armed Forces and their contributions to UN peacekeeping missions.
It is expected that this meeting will further strengthen and expand the defence cooperation between Bangladesh and the United States and the friendly relations between the two countries in the future.
