State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj on Tuesday said that the government will take steps to showcase creativity and skills in singing, dancing, recitation, storytelling and cultural activities of primary school students at a national level.
“The country’s primary school students possess extraordinary talents. From next year, initiatives will be taken to broadcast programmes on television nationally to help develop their talents,” he said.
The state minister made these remarks while serving as the chief guest at the prize-giving ceremony for the Dhaka divisional final round of the Primary Education Award 2026, which included sports, cultural activities, subject-based quizzes, and cubbing, held at PTI in Mirpur.
He mentioned that attractive prizes would be provided to help develop the talents of primary school students.
He said again, “the young students presented excellent performances despite limited opportunities and facilities.”
“Their confidence and talent have impressed me. In the coming days, we want to present their best performances before the nation through better arrangements,” he added.
The state minister stated, “the students are not lagging behind in any way, and they have the potential to become nationally and internationally acclaimed artists, cultural personalities and creative leaders.”
“The government will extend all-out support to develop that potential,” he continued.
Announcing plans to organise such competitions on a larger scale from next year (2027), Bobby Hajjaj said the competitions would be broadcast on television in the future so that people across the country could enjoy the talents of primary school students.
“At the same time, the scope of prizes would also be expanded,” he added.
The state minister also spoke about introducing new incentives to encourage schools, saying that if a student of any school wins a major award, special grants would be provided for the school in addition to the student’s prize.
“This would encourage teachers and school authorities to play a greater role in developing students’ latent talents,” he further added.
He called upon education administration officials at upazila, union and local levels to promote cultural and creative activities of students more extensively.
He urged them to create a festive atmosphere in local competitions by involving public representatives, media personnel and distinguished members of society.
Later, the state minister distributed prizes among students who emerged victorious at the divisional level in different competitions.
