Parliament forms Planning panel, reconstitutes Business Advisory Committee

The National Parliament on Wednesday approved the formation of a new Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Planning Ministry and reconstituted the Parliamentary Business Advisory Committee through separate proposals moved by Chief Whip Nurul Islam Moni.

The proposals were placed in accordance with the Rules of Procedure and subsequently passed by the House, paving the way for the formation of the new parliamentary body and changes to the advisory committee’s composition.

The newly formed Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Planning Ministry will be chaired by Abdul Moyeen Khan, MP, from Narsingdi-2. Other members of the committee include Zonayed Abdur Rahim Saki, M Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu, Kazi Rafiqul Islam, Moinul Islam Khan, Muhammad Fakrul Islam, Md Showkatul Islam, Farida Yeasmin, MD Saiful Alam and Md Rashedul Islam Rashed.

Meanwhile, the reconstituted Business Advisory Committee will continue to be headed by Speaker Hafiz Uddin Ahmad. Its members include Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, Opposition Leader Dr Shafiqur Rahman, alongside senior lawmakers from both treasury and opposition benches.

The revised committee features the inclusion of Kayser Kamal, while Mirza Abbas Uddin Ahmed has been dropped from the body.

The Business Advisory Committee plays a key role in determining parliamentary business and scheduling House proceedings, making its reconstitution an important organisational step as the current session continues.
