A dedicated High Court (HC) bench has been constituted to hear, on a priority basis, death references for confirmation of death sentences awarded under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, as well as appeals arising from the same judgements.
Chief Justice Zubayer Rahman Chowdhury constituted the bench comprising Justice Bhishmadev Chakrabortty and Justice KM Rasheduzzaman Raja on 10 June.
According to the bench formation order no. 143 of 2026, the bench has been constituted to conduct judicial proceedings of the High Court Division from 10.30 am on Sunday, 14 June.
The bench will exclusively hear, on a priority basis, death references seeking confirmation of death sentences awarded under the Women and Children Repression Prevention Act, along with all criminal appeals and jail appeals arising from the same judgements.
In addition, the bench will hear applications fothe admission of such criminal appeals and jail appeals, as well as any related criminal miscellaneous matters, criminal revisions,ns and rules concerning the aforementioned cases.
