The government has cancelled the operating licence of Ad-Din Medical College Hospital after six newborns died in its care.
On 11 June, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) declared the facility closed with immediate effect. The decision comes after the hospital failed to adequately explain the series of tragedies in its neonatal care unit.
Health officials had previously issued a formal notice to the hospital’s management, demanding clear answers regarding the lapses in patient care. After reviewing the official written defence, the DGHS ruled the explanation was entirely unacceptable.
Unable to guarantee future patient safety based on the hospital’s response, authorities moved swiftly to shut down the institution.
The strict regulatory action sends a clear message to the healthcare sector. Authorities are enforcing rigid medical standards and holding institutions fully accountable to prevent further loss of life.
