State Minister for Social Welfare Farzana Sharmin on Friday said that the government is working to improve the living standard of common people.
“Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is working relentlessly towards this goal,” she said.
The state minister was speaking as the chief guest at a programme held at the Bagatipara Upazila Parishad auditorium after distributing submersible pumps among poor people, spray machines to farmers, work aids to members of small ethnic communities and sports equipment to educational institutions.
Farzana said, “the government has taken effective steps to improve the standard of education.”
“Education of girls up to graduation has been made free, and that is why all children should be sent to educational institutions,” she also said.
“Along with textbooks, they shouldalso engaged in sports and literary and cultural activities for their mental development. We need to protect our children from social menaces like drugs and online gambling,” Farzana added.
Farzana again stated that teachers and guardians need to remain alert in this regard, adding that no class or profession in the country will be neglected anymore.
“The government has given a new budget. This people-friendly budget will fulfil the aspirations of the people and make the country a self-reliant Bangladesh,” she continued.
Earlier, the state minister inaugurated the boro collection programme for the current season at the upazila food godown.
She also inaugurated the Start-up, Science Project and Innovation Idea Showcasing programme at Bagatipara Gymnasium.
