Bangladesh has reported four new deaths linked to measles-like symptoms and 1,052 fresh suspected cases in the last 24 hours till Sunday morning, according to health authorities.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said in its latest bulletin that the deaths were recorded between 8am on Saturday and 8am on Sunday. During the same period, 75 new laboratory-confirmed measles cases were identified. However, no new deaths were confirmed among laboratory-verified cases.
Health officials noted that since 15 March, the country has recorded a total of 10,323 confirmed measles cases, while suspected cases have now risen to 85,951 nationwide.
The DGHS further reported that 92 deaths have been confirmed due to measles so far, while suspected measles-related deaths have reached 560 over the same period.
Despite the ongoing outbreak, recovery numbers continue to rise. According to the health authority, a total of 66,841 patients affected by measles or measles-like symptoms have recovered across the country since the beginning of the reporting period.
The DGHS continues to monitor the situation closely as new cases emerge daily, with health officials urging vigilance and timely medical attention for those showing symptoms.
The sharp rise in suspected cases over a single day highlights the continuing spread of the disease, even as confirmed cases remain comparatively lower than suspected infections.
Health experts say continued surveillance, early detection, and community awareness are essential to controlling further transmission and reducing fatalities, particularly among vulnerable groups such as children.
Authorities have not yet announced any new nationwide restrictions but continue to update data regularly as part of ongoing public health monitoring efforts.
