Bangladesh has welcomed the newly finalised peace agreement between the United States and Iran, describing the breakthrough as an encouraging development for regional and global stability.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said Bangladesh views the agreement as a constructive step towards reducing tensions and fostering peace in the Middle East, a region of significant geopolitical and economic importance.
The government noted that Bangladesh has consistently advocated for resolving conflicts through dialogue, diplomacy and peaceful engagement rather than confrontation. It also expressed appreciation for the efforts undertaken by all parties involved, as well as the mediators and facilitators who helped bring the negotiations to a successful conclusion.
According to the foreign ministry, Bangladesh hopes the agreement will be implemented sincerely and maintained over the long term, ensuring that the progress achieved through negotiations translates into durable peace and stability.
Dhaka reiterated its longstanding position that lasting peace in the Middle East is essential not only for the region itself but also for broader global security, economic development and international cooperation. The statement emphasised that instability in the region often has far-reaching consequences for global trade, energy markets and supply chains.
Bangladesh also encouraged all stakeholders to build upon the momentum generated by the agreement and continue addressing any unresolved issues through diplomatic channels and constructive dialogue.
The government further expressed hope that the accord would contribute to the swift restoration of calm across the region, facilitate the uninterrupted functioning of international supply chains and strengthen economic and diplomatic cooperation among countries.
The agreement between Washington and Tehran has been widely regarded as a significant diplomatic achievement following a prolonged period of tensions and conflict, raising expectations for a more stable and predictable environment in the Middle East.
