The Ad-Din Foundation on Monday firmly rejected allegations that it attempted to influence government decisions through bribery in connection with the cancellation of the operating licence of Ad-Din Hospital’s Moghbazar branch.

Speaking at a press conference held on the hospital premises in Moghbazar, the foundation’s Executive Director Dr Sheikh Mohiuddin denied the accusation and challenged the authorities to provide evidence supporting the claim.

During the event, journalists sought his reaction to recent comments made by Health Minister Sardar Md Sakhawat Husain. Initially, Dr Mohiuddin declined to respond directly, suggesting that questions regarding the allegation should be addressed to the minister himself. However, he later clarified the foundation’s position, stating that if such allegations had indeed been made publicly, the responsibility now lies with the minister to substantiate them with proof.

“If the health minister has made such a statement, then he should also present evidence to support it,” Dr Mohiuddin said.

The controversy stems from remarks made by the health minister at a public event on Saturday. During his speech, the minister alleged that representatives of the hospital had repeatedly approached him and offered large sums of money in an attempt to prevent the cancellation of the hospital’s licence.

According to the minister, the offers involved several crores of taka, but he rejected them outright, asserting that he was not motivated by financial gain.

The minister’s comments sparked widespread discussion, particularly amid ongoing scrutiny surrounding the Moghbazar branch of Ad-Din Hospital. Monday’s press conference marked the first formal response from the foundation regarding the allegation, with its leadership strongly denying any involvement in bribery and calling for concrete evidence to support the claim.
