On wednesday, Barrister Mir Mohammad Helal Uddin, the State Minister for Land and Chattogram Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs, expressed his deep appreciation for Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, praising the introduction of the Family Card programme as a reflection of the Prime Minister's commitment to addressing the vulnerability of poorer people.

“The family card initiative exemplifies his commitment to public welfare by ensuring economic security for the common populace at the grassroots level," he said as the premier virtually launched the family card distribution across 19 upazilas in different parts of the country.

The Gumanmarddan Union of Hathazari Upazila on the outskirts of this south-eastern port city is one of the areas where the Family Card system was introduced today as the prime minister launched the programme using the virtual platform from Moulvibazar district headquarters.

During the event Helal conveyed his heartfelt thanks and deep appreciation to the premier on behalf of the people there and handed over the cards to 124 family members of Ward No. 3 of Guman Marddan at a public gathering.

The state minister simultaneously extended his warm greetings and congratulations to Tarique Rahman on behalf of the people of Hathazari and Chattogram.

“On this historic and momentous occasion, I express my profound gratitude and respect to the great declarer of independent Bangladesh, Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman, whose ideals and people-centred philosophy keep motivating us,” he said.

Helal also paid tribute to Begum Khaleda Zia, saying her leadership and sacrifices propelled the fight for the rights of the citizens of this nation.

Chattogram’s deputy commissioner Mohammad Zahidul Islam Miah chaired the function, joined as well by divisional commissioner Dr Mohammad Ziauddin and Chattogram University Pro-VC Dr Mohammad Al-Amin, among others.
