The Directorate of Primary Education has directed all offices and institutions under its jurisdiction to promptly clear land development tax dues, including outstanding arrears, for the 2025-26 financial year.
In an urgent circular, the directorate instructed field-level offices to take immediate steps to ensure compliance with the payment requirement. The directive follows instructions from the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, which has emphasised strict adherence to fiscal obligations across government departments.
According to the letter, all institutions under the directorate must deposit land development tax under code-3821102. The order applies broadly across the education administration structure, including divisional deputy director offices, district primary education offices, Primary Teacher Training Institutes (PTIs), upazila and thana education offices, as well as government primary schools.
Officials have been asked to use allocated funds from the 2025-26 fiscal year to settle both current liabilities and any previously unpaid dues. The directive highlights that ensuring timely payment of land development tax is essential for maintaining financial discipline and improving the overall management of public resources.
The Directorate of Primary Education stated that compliance with the instruction is mandatory and must be carried out without delay. It further stressed that proper settlement of government dues helps strengthen accountability within public institutions and ensures smoother fiscal operations at all administrative levels.
By enforcing the directive across all field offices and institutions, authorities aim to streamline revenue compliance within the primary education sector and reinforce financial discipline in government spending practices.
