101 new dengue patients identified nationwide overnight

Health officials on Thursday said they recorded 101 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts in the past 24 hours.

“We recorded 101 fresh cases of dengue onslaughts in 24 hours ending at 8:00 am today,” a spokesman for the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said.

“Out of the 101 fresh cases, 35 were hospitalised in the Barishal division, 14 in the Chattogram division, 10 in the Dhaka division, one in the Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), 14 in the Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), one in the Mymensingh division, six in the Rajshahi division and 20 in the Khulna division," a Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) statement said.

Since the start of the dengue onslaughts, Bangladesh this year has claimed seven lives and inflicted 4,600 people.

The dengue last year claimed 413 lives and affected 102,861 people in the country.

Besides, dengue claimed 575 lives and afflicted 101,214 people in 2024.
