State Minister for Road Transport and Highways Habibur Rashid on Thursday said that work is underway to improve transportation and communication systems across the country in line with the government’s commitments.
He said that the government will maintain the continuity of infrastructure development to meet the expectations of the people. The current government will fulfil public expectations through development,” he told a discussion after inspecting Ichhapura and Nagarpara Balu bridges in Rupganj Upazila.
Referring to the under-construction Kayetpara–Nagarpara and Rupganj–Ichhapura bridges, he said, “these two bridges have long been a demand of local residents.”
“However, certain groups have hindered the progress of the projects for various reasons,” he added.
He further added, “the government wants to ensure balanced development in every region of the country. Considering the long-standing demands of the local people, discussions will be held with the relevant authorities and necessary steps will be taken to expedite the completion of both bridge projects.”
State Minister for Shipping Md Razib Ahsan; members of parliament SM Jahangir Hossain, Munshi Rafiqul Alam Majnu, and Mostafizur Rahman Bhuiyan Dipu; former General Secretary of the District BNP Golam Faruk Khokon; and President of Rupganj Upazila BNP Advocate Mahfuzur Rahman Humayun were present.
Later, rickshaw vans and goats were distributed among beneficiaries at the Tarabo Municipal auditorium.
