An investigation into a senior police officer's relationship with the famous actress Pori Moni led to his retirement. Md Golam Saklain was suspended from his position as an officer in the Detective Branch (DB) due to grave misconduct, and the decision was confirmed by the Ministry of Home Affairs.
An official notice, signed by Senior Secretary Monjur Morshed Chowdhury, stated that the President ordered the forced retirement. Before losing his job, Saklain was serving as an additional superintendent of police at a training centre in Jhenaidah. The government made this final decision after seeking advice from the Public Service Commission in mid-2024.
The turning point in the police investigation came from digital evidence. Investigators looked at mobile phone records, which clearly showed that Saklain frequently visited the actress’s private home at various times. This broke strict professional police rules and led investigators to push for the highest possible punishment.
The story began in June 2021. Pori Moni reported an attempted assault at a private club in Savar, which led to the arrest of a local businessman the very next day.
At that time, Saklain was working as the Additional Deputy Commissioner of the DB’s Gulshan Division. He first met the actress when she came into the detective headquarters for questioning about her case.
After this official meeting, sources say Saklain started visiting her house regularly, and people saw them spending time together. The secret relationship became public knowledge when Pori Moni admitted it after her August 2021 arrest. That connection has now permanently ended a once-successful police career.
