Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on Friday expressed deep shock and sorrow at the death of Al Mujahidi, a prominent student leader of the 1960s, a valiant freedom fighter, an Ekushey Padak-winning poet, and a distinguished journalist.
In a message of condolence, the PM prayed for eternal peace for the departed soul and conveyed deep sympathy to the bereaved family.
Tarique Rahman said, “Mujahidi had played a strong role throughout his life in favour of democracy, human rights, and the independence and sovereignty of the country.”
“His death has created a profound void in our literary and cultural arena that will not be simple to fill,” said the prime minister.
The Ekushey Padak-winning poet passed away at 1.40 pm on Friday while undergoing treatment at United Hospital in the capital at the age of 83.
