State Minister for Social Welfare Barrister Farjana Sharmin on Friday said that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has formulated far-sighted plans to achieve the country’s sustainable development goals, ensuring that the benefits reach the people through proper implementation.
The State Minister came up with the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a views-exchange meeting on the implementation of the social welfare ministry’s grassroots programmes, held at the Gazaria Upazila Parishad auditorium in Munshiganj.
“He noted that the BNP-led government assumed state responsibilities at a time when the economy was in a fragile state. Despite the ongoing economic crisis, the state is being managed efficiently through proper management,” she added.
“The government’s ultimate aspiration is the well-being of its citizens. We are working tirelessly to change the fortune of the people, leaving no room for division,” she further added.
She assured that the benefits of all ongoing programmes under the Ministry of Social Welfare, including the ‘Family Card’ initiative, will be extended to everyone, regardless of political affiliation or opinion.
Emphasizing development at the grassroots level, the State minister said, “that if the development allocations and various programmes of different government departments are properly implemented in an Upazila, it will not take long to improve the living standards of marginalized communities.”
“However, these development activities must be executed correctly. Our focus is heavily centred on government funds and project implementation. In this regard, the quality of work must be ensured. No form of corruption will be tolerated,” she added.
Barrister Farjana also stressed the importance of nurturing the youth, saying, “we want to build a meritorious nation by properly raising our future generation. Every parent must keep a watchful eye on their children and protect them from the deadly clutches of drugs. They should not become burdens, but rather assets to their families and the nation.”
Chaired by Munshiganj Deputy Commissioner (DC) Syeda Nurmahal Ashrafi, the meeting was also addressed by Member of Parliament for Munshiganj-3 constituency Md. Kamruzzaman.
