Following the conclusion of a two-day official visit to Malaysia, Prime Minister Tariq Rahman has departed for Dalian, China, to participate in the World Economic Forum annual meeting.
Tariq Rahman left Kuala Lumpur International Airport on a special Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight at approximately 17:00 local time on Monday. The diplomatic mission marks the second phase of his maiden foreign tour since assuming the premiership, reflecting a strategic prioritisation of major Asian partnerships.
During his brief but highly significant stay in Kuala Lumpur, Tariq Rahman held an extensive meeting with the Malaysian Prime Minister. The lengthy discussions focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation, advancing diplomatic ties, and addressing mutual economic interests between the two nations.
At the formal departure ceremony, Malaysian Minister of Religious Affairs Zulkifli Hasan, accompanied by his spouse, officially bid farewell to the Bangladeshi leader at the exclusive Bunga Raya Complex VIP terminal. Bangladesh High Commissioner to Malaysia Manjurul Karim and Deputy High Commissioner Shahanara Monika were also present to oversee the departure protocols.
Additional Press Secretary Atiqur Rahman Rumon confirmed the official itinerary, noting that Tariq Rahman will observe a demanding two-day schedule in Dalian. The coastal city is hosting global leaders and economic strategists for the annual forum, providing a platform for critical international dialogue.
Upon concluding his economic engagements at the World Economic Forum, Tariq Rahman will travel directly to Beijing. The Chinese capital will host the core programmes of this state visit, where formal diplomatic negotiations, bilateral agreements, and high-level official dialogues are expected to take centre stage.
